Can you WWOOF in USA?
Your WWOOF-USA® membership provides you with a great opportunity to travel throughout the USA while learning organic farming and other sustainable living practices. As a WWOOFer you will participate in the daily lives of your host family, experience a new culture and meet people from various walks of life.
Does WWOOFing work on a farm?
WWOOFers spend about half of each day helping out on a farm, and receive educational opportunities. Different accommodation and meal options are offered depending on each WWOOF host’s settings and capabilities.
Do you get paid as a WWOOF?
No! WWOOF is a mutual exchange! Any member who joins WWOOF will not be receiving any salary or daily allowances during the exchange. Receiving payment for work done on a volunteer exchange jeopardizes the host and the entire WWOOF program as stringent laws must be followed when hiring an “employee”.

In the case of wwoof, it is designed to be an even exchange – room and board and education in return for 4–5 hours/day of usually unskilled labor. It is also part of the effort to return community to the work of farming. There are unethical farmers and unethical wwoofers, who do not provide good value.

Where do WWOOFers live?
Oftentimes WWOOFers stay in modest, temporary living spaces, ranging from tent camping to an RV to a room in a house. WWOOFers will receive safe, clean, and dry accommodations. The food that is offered will also vary from place to place, so make sure you are clear about what to expect.
