Where does Simon Howie live?
Findony Farm. Our premises are based on Findony Farm in the beautiful Perthshire village of Dunning where I have lived all my life. Based nine miles from Perth and five miles from Auchterarder at the foot of the Ochil Hills, it is a tight-knit community steeped in history and its symbolic connection to farming.
Where is Simon Howie from?
A family business, Simon Howie was born and bred in Dunning, where the factory is based and where he still lives today. From a local butcher in the village aged just 19, the business has grown from strength to strength and was recently voted Scotland’s favourite butcher.
Who is Simon Howie?
Simon founded the butchery business in 1986 in the village of Dunning where the business still resides today. Simon trained as a butcher in Perth before starting his own small shop in Dunning. He went on to open three more shops then the factory in Dunning following the purchase of Findony Farm in 1994.
Are Simon Howie sausages gluten free?
We have been enjoying some treats from the Simon Howie butcher range. They have recently launched a new gluten free lorne sausage, which is also lower in fat (= good thing!).

Simon Howie’s Vegetarian Haggis is a sumptuous blend of pulses, seeds and vegetables, bursting with flavour and mixed with oats and spices. Our vegetarian haggis doubles up as a vegan haggis too, as we are also Vegan Approved by the Vegetarian Society!
How do you cook Simon Howie haggis?
Place the haggis in an oven proof dish and fill with boiling water to half way up the haggis. Cover with a lid and place in a preheated oven (190°C / gas mark 5) for 75 minutes. Check the water level from time to time during cooking and top up if required. Once ready, remove the dish and carefully remove the tin foil.

Potato flakes replace barley flakes in our new recipe, while the balance of spices and flavour remains the same.

Vegan black pudding is a thing and you can buy it in supermarkets in the UK. The plant-based meat is made by the Real Lancashire Black Pudding Company. Black pudding is a kind of blood sausage, usually made from pig’s blood. It also includes pig or cow fat and a cereal, like oatmeal.

Great Scottish haggis, all good meat and very tasty too. Just had two Simon Howie haggis. Amazingly good! Masses of flavour and good and peppery.
