Abused and neglected children need more than the child welfare system can provide. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children of Atlantic and Cape Ma y Counties recruits, trains and coaches citizen-volunteers who advocate for abused children in the community and in courtroom.
What is a CASA/GAL Association?
The National Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) / Guardian ad Litem (GAL) Association for Children, together with state and local member programs, supports and promotes court-appointed volunteer advocacy so every child who has experienced abuse or neglect can be safe, have a permanent home, and the opportunity to thrive.
What does a Casa volunteer do?
The volunteer is a Court Appointed Special Advocate โ a CASA volunteer. He or she is trained to u nderstand the sensitive circumstances of a child living in foster care. The advocate is trained to listen to the child and all those involved in what can often be very complicated cases.
